Apparently director Mann has a rep as a pretty fair director, especially in the case of Heat. In that case he must have been having an off day when he helmed this. The period detail is fine and though I'm no... Full review
asleep in several places. First, Johnny Depp was excellent as Dillinger, Cotillard wasted her talent, and Bale was a total loser for his part as Purvis. My objection to this movie is several fold: over use of hand-held shots caused severe... Full review
The name John Dillinger sends a chill down the back of people from several generations. The memory of his fame fades faster and faster. Those directly affected by his actions probably wish they could forget. Born to people who were children... Full review
My high expectations for this film were nearly through the roof. But, the actual film itself is a bit of a drag. The story of John Dillinger's reign of crime in America's depression era is a good story that needs to... Full review
Eighty years after the events, Michael Mann takes on the Period Chicago Gangster genre, and wins, with this entertaining story. Do not be put off by some churlish carping from the critics, much of which is generated by the very high... Full review
After riding on the gravy train that was the Pirates of the Caribbean, Johnny Depp delivers his best performance yet as 1930s bank robber John Dillinger. Here's the skinny: After robbing many banks during the Depression, John Dillinger(Depp) is now Public... Full review
Who was John Dillinger? We all know he was a flamboyant criminal who robbed banks, but who WAS he? The question of who Dillinger WAS is far more interesting than the question of what Dillinger DID, but this film, sadly, chose... Full review

Firstly, let me say, that I have given up all trust and faith in film reviews. How 'The Times' could rate this 2 out of 5 I have no idea. Metacritic averages around 50% I think for this title, highly variable... Full review
Many critics are "puzzled" about this movie they say: "We're left asking, who is John Dillinger, really?" Well folks, there is a twisted answer to this puzzle: This movie is not about John Dillinger. It is about the ICON of... Full review

Public Enemies" runs longer than it needs to but it does paint a fascinating picture -....Cotillard is gorgeous and key to the film's resolution;....Mann embraces those quiet moments but he lives for the big shoot-outs.....Stephen Lang (as the man who shoots Dillinger) has a very nice pair of scenes.... ... Sex, violence, haints and taints, your favorite movie!....Together, they've pulled the most obnoxious, laugh-tinged moments from the narrative and strung them into a road trip plot about a bachelor party.....I hope it's entertaining.....I'd expect more from the best movie site on the planet.....I have a way better idea for a View Master movie that would be super radical..... ... While not in the same league as his recent and more mature work like "Vicky Christina Barcelona", "Whatever Works" is an amusing cinematic trifle from an old softie.....the script for "Whatever Works" has been languishing in Allen's drawer since the 1970s.....Allen's dialogue is often quite funny helping to temper some of the obvious....If the story seems somewhat dated, that may be....calculated elements of the plot..... ... This has to be one of the cutest flicks around, with little baby characters that are positively adorable.....His side story is an unwelcome distraction.....Ray Romano and Denis Leary in particular sound like they're almost bored by the proceedings.....Simon Pegg's cliched but fun as Buck, a swash-"buck"ling weasel.....Its characters are well-realized and affable..... ...
